Date and Time Formats
The date and time formats on this website correspond with the ISO 8601 format.
The dates are represented as yyyy-mm-dd where yyyy is the year, mm is the month and dd is the day. The time is in a 24-hour format followed by a timezone specification (always Z, for UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) or the now depreciated GMT (Greenwich Mean Time)). For convenience sake, events for local audiences will usually be described with the local time and timezone.
Example: 1971-07-03 is equivalent to July 3, 1971 (3 July 1971). 23:51Z is equivalent to 18:51 (6:51 PM) Eastern Standard Time (EST).
In the United States, UTC is 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard Time (EST), 8 hours ahead of Pacific Standard Time (PST), 4 hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Savings Time (EDT), and 7 hours ahead of Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). Time in the United Kingdom is the same as UTC except during British Summer Time (BST) when it is 1 hour ahead of UTC.
